Acetylcholinesterase and Butyrylcholinesterase Inhibitory Activity of Extracts from Medicinal Plants
Abstract
AChE and BuChE inhibition represents a promising Alzheimer's disease treatment strategy. Aqueous and methanolic extracts from sage, arnica, rue, St. John's wort, and aronia were tested using Ellman's colorimetric method with galanthamine hydrobromide as positive control. Water extract of rue demonstrated best inhibition, followed by methanolic extracts of arnica and St. John's wort at 400 μg/ml concentration.Downloads
