Abstract

Using Tafel extrapolation methodology, the effect of hydrogen peroxide addition on the corrosion of brass, copper, and zinc in hydrochloric acid was examined at room temperature (20±1°C). The corrosion rate of brass was higher in hydrochloric acid with the oxidizing agent than without it. Zinc was identified as the primary corrosion source, exhibiting the highest corrosion rate in 0.1 M HCl + 0.1 M H2O2 solution compared to copper and brass samples.
