Abstract

Boiling extracts from Malus sylvestris and Syringa vulgaris flowers were evaluated as green corrosion inhibitors for stainless steel in 0.5 M sulphuric acid using electrochemical methods. The addition of 10 mg/L of the Malus sylvestris flower extract reduced corrosion by 15%, while 10 g/L achieved 65% reduction. The Syringa vulgaris extract achieved similar 65% inhibition at higher concentrations. Both extracts followed Langmuir adsorption models and represent environmentally sound alternatives for reducing steel corrosion in acidic conditions.
