Abstract

Curcumin, herbal polyphenol and active ingredient of turmeric, has been reported to possess a wide range of pharmacological properties such as antimicrobial, antioxidative, antiinflammatory and anticancer property. This review examines curcumin as a potential therapeutic agent in the treatment of hyperlipidemia, discussing its potential as a lipid-lowering alternative to synthetic medications.
