Abstract

This study examined phenolic compounds, acetylcholinesterase inhibition, antioxidant, and antimicrobial properties of methanolic extracts from three Cotoneaster species. The C. tomentosus leaf extract demonstrated the highest total phenol and flavonoid content, with superior antioxidant activity, while C. horizontalis leaf extract showed strongest acetylcholinesterase inhibition. All extracts exhibited significant antibacterial and antifungal effects, with C. integerrimus extract performing most effectively against bacterial strains tested and Candida albicans. Findings suggest these plant species possess promising therapeutic potential.
