Synthesis and characterization of Fe(III) complex with thiosemicarbazide-based ligand

Abstract

A novel iron(III) complex was synthesized and characterized through condensation of salicylaldehyde thiosemicarbazone. The ligand is coordinated as an ONS tridentate dianion via the oxygen atom after deprotonation of the phenolic OH-group. While the free ligand demonstrated considerable antioxidant capacity, the resulting complex exhibited minimal activity at lower concentrations.
