Abstract

Hemoglobin enzyme function was examined under oxidative stress conditions induced by hydrogen peroxide. At elevated hydrogen peroxide concentrations, partial hemoglobin and heme destruction occurred, while the protein's native structure provided protective effects compared to free heme. DNA presence inhibited enzymatic activity through reduced hydrogen peroxide consumption.
