Abstract

This comparative study analyzed 109 participants (54 controls, 55 diabetic patients) to examine serum bilirubin concentrations and biochemical markers. Results showed a significant difference in concentrations of glucose, glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c), lipid profile and bilirubin between T2D patients and controls (p<0.05). Significant associations emerged between bilirubin and glucose levels, suggesting bilirubin may serve as a potential biomarker for Type 2 diabetes progression and vascular complications.
