Abstract

This cross-sectional study of 90 subjects (≥65 years) investigated the correlation between cognitive impairment severity in Alzheimer's disease and vascular dementia and serum antioxidant status of uric acid, albumin, and bilirubin in female patients. Alzheimer's patients demonstrated decreased uric acid and increased bilirubin, while severe cognitive impairment correlated with lower uric acid. Vascular dementia patients exhibited hypoalbuminemia, particularly in severe cases, supporting the protective role of antioxidants in dementia pathogenesis.
