Investigation of Inhibitory Effect of the Rubus idealis L. Extract on Corrosion of Copper

Abstract

Raspberry (Rubus idaeus L.) extract effects on copper corrosion in 3% NaCl were investigated. Polyphenolic compounds were quantified via HPLC and UV/Vis methods following Soxhlet extraction with ethanol. Electrochemical tests showed corrosion rate decreases in the presence of the extract, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy revealed increased resistance, suggesting the extract forms a protective layer against aggressive environments.
